Privacy policy
In short
- You can use faviconlion without an account.
- Uploaded logos and the generated files are deleted automatically after 60 minutes and used for nothing but creating your favicon package.
- We use no cookies and embed no third-party content. For web analytics we use a self-hosted Matomo without cookies and with shortened IP addresses.

No data protection officer has been appointed, as there is no legal obligation to do so.
2. Hosting and server log files
This website runs on a server of Hetzner Online GmbH, Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany. A data processing agreement according to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Hetzner.
With every request the web server automatically stores technically necessary data in log files: IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, status code, referrer and browser identification. This serves the secure and stable operation of the service and the defense against attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is a secure, working service. Log files are deleted after 14 days.
3. Uploaded files and favicon packages
When you upload a logo, we process the file solely to create your favicon package and provide it for download (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). The file, your settings (e.g. app name, colors, crop) and the result are stored in a directory with a random, unguessable identifier that is also part of the download link. After 60 minutes the directory is deleted completely and automatically. The data is not shared with third parties or used in any other way.
By uploading you confirm that you hold the necessary rights to the logo.
4. Abuse protection
To prevent overload and abuse, we limit the number of requests per IP address (e.g. uploads per hour). For this the IP address is kept together with a counter in a cache on our server for at most one hour and then discarded. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is a service available to all users.
5. Reporting a problem
Via “Report a problem” you can tell us about an error or an unsatisfying result. We store your description, the error shown, technical details (browser identification, window size, step) and – if provided – your email address for follow-up questions. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is fixing problems.
Only with your explicit consent do we also store your uploaded file and your settings to reproduce the problem (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). You can withdraw this consent at any time by email to the address above; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
Reports are stored on our server, announced to us by email, used solely for fixing problems and deleted after 30 days at the latest.
6. Technical error monitoring
If a technical error occurs on the server, we log it (time, affected function, error message, browser identification) and notify ourselves by email so we can fix it quickly (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The contents of uploaded files are not included.
7. Statistics
We count how many uploads and favicon packages are created per day. Only totals are stored – no IP addresses, no files and no other personal data.
8. Web analytics with Matomo
To understand how faviconlion is used and what we can improve, we use the open-source software Matomo, which we run on our own server. We record page views and individual events such as “package created”, “download” or the chosen installation guide – each with coarse details such as the file type (e.g. “svg”). Matomo sets no cookies. IP addresses are shortened before storage so that no personal reference can be made. Uploaded files, file names and download links are not recorded. The data is not shared with third parties.
The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is improving the service. If your browser sends the “Do Not Track” setting, nothing is recorded. You can also object at any time by email to the address above.
9. Local storage in your browser
So that the last selected tab of the installation guide (e.g. “WordPress”) opens again on your next visit, we store this choice in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your browser and is not transmitted to us. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings. The legal basis is § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG, as the storage is necessary for the function you requested.
10. Your rights
You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on legitimate interests (Art. 21 GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time (Art. 7 (3) GDPR). Please contact us at the address above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example the authority responsible for us: Sächsische Datenschutz- und Transparenzbeauftragte, Maternistraße 17, 01067 Dresden, Germany, www.datenschutz.sachsen.de.
11. Advertising
No advertising is currently shown on this website. Before we add advertising, we will update this privacy policy and – where required – ask for your consent.
